WHY CATHOLIC?

Our parish will soon be implementing Why Catholic? which is a spiritual renewal, evangelization, and adult faith formation process to help people better know Jesus Christ and to know more about their faith and share time with others deepening that faith.

The most widespread way to experience Why Catholic? is through small communities. Why Catholic? is divided into four books with 12 sessions each which correspond to the four parts of the Cathechism of the Catholic Church.  The plan is to do one book a year in 6 sessions each. We are hoping to begin this process this fall.

Parish Wedding Anniversary Dinner Partyanniversary
Saturday, October 2
nd
In the Undercroft
This special evening is planned for all couples who have been married 25 years or longer.
Our “Honored Guests” are those couples celebrating their 25th and 50th Wedding Anniversary
 this year.

The evening begins with Mass at 5:00 p.m. in church, followed by a lovely dinner in the undercroft. Recognitions, cake cutting and entertainment makes this evening memorable for all!

Those couples celebrating their 24th Wedding Anniversary this year are asked to help
with the preparations as they will be “honored” next year.

A donation of $10.00 per couple (not from our “Honored Guests”!) is appreciated.

Look for more details in future postings and bulletins.

Kristin ArmstrongNovember 6, 2010
The Hope for the 21st Century Speaker Series will take place as we welcome Kristin      Armstrong to Troy.  A current resident of Austin, TX, Kristin is a mother of 3, and an author,   contributing editor for Runner’s World and marathon runner. She is currently training for the Boston Marathon.  In her blog and her three books, Kristin draws from her experiences as a working single mother (she went through a public divorce with Lance Armstrong in 2003), and speaks often of her faith, family and friendships.

St. Patrick Church is donating the use of their Parish Center for this event.  Tickets will once again be free, but will be limited due to the smaller venue.  Jay and Mary’s Book Center will coordinate a book signing at the conclusion of the event.  There will be a dinner and reception for sponsors and donors that evening.

In order to continue the tradition and the spirit of the Hope for the 21st Century Speaker Series, we are in need of sponsors.  To inquire about sponsorships, please contact Brett Bogan at (937) 524-7374, or by email at bdbogan@troyfumc.org.  To donate, you can make checks out to Troy FUMC, and indicate Speaker Series in the memo.
