One Faith, One Hope, One Love

This past weekend our parish officially began our participation in the Archdiocesan comprehensive campaign to meet today’s spiritual and material needs, and at the same time began preparing for our continued growth through the One Faith, One Hope, One Love campaign. This campaign is the most ambitious fundraising initiative of its kind in our history. Based upon the input from pastors and lay women and men throughout the archdiocese, the archdiocese has carefully considered several areas vital to its future and in need of support, for both our parishes and our archdiocese. The programs, services and financial resources we make available will significantly influence the scope of our mission in the future. We have a unique opportunity to provide for our parishioners and the communities we serve in a greater and more meaningful way for many years to come. We are one of eighty some parishes to announce today our entry into this campaign that involves every parish/faith community throughout the archdiocese. We have a goal of $650,000.00 . At this point we already have received pledges of nearly$ 70,00.00 and most of our area parishes have already met and exceeded their pledge goals. Most recently our neighboring parishes in Piqua Ohio have met and exceeded their pledge goal of over 1.2 million dollars combine pledge. Many parishes north of us have also met and exceeded their goals. Over the next several months we will be providing details and information, challenging and inviting us to respond to five specific areas including Catholic Education programming and tuition assistance to ensure a high quality education that is accessible , available and affordable for all families and strengthen our faith formation programs, teachers and opportunities, local parish needs to fortify, renew and expand parish life, support of vocations by strengthening our faith through the education and faith formation of our seminarians, deacon candidates, and lay faith leaders, honoring our commitment to care for our retired diocesan priests, and Catholic Charities and Catholic Social Services to expand our community service ministries. The premise of all this is that we make a sacrificial offering back in gratitude to God, the origin of all that we have and are, trusting that God who cannot be outdone in his generosity to us calls us as sons and daughters to offer willingly and trustingly the gift that is of ourselves to benefit the life and vitality of parish and diocese both. Nobody will be forced to make any pledge they cannot honor; all will be invited prayerfully to consider a gift to the Lord and the local church and diocese. I know some of you have heard some horror stories from people from other parishes. Again that was some other parish, not St. Patrick, and I do enlist your help in this effort to make this a successful venture. None of the monies will go into the Archdiocese of Cincinnati operating funds but rather into the Catholic Community Foundation for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, a separate 501(c)(3) organization that has been formed to oversee the funds and their distribution. The funds raised through this campaign will be used only for the ministries of the campaign already mentioned. The cost of conducting the campaign represents approximately 7% of the total goal, and will be funded from the diocesan portion of the dollars raised. This special community fund will be administered by a group that includes lay representatives from throughout the Archdiocese as well as four members including the Archbishop, the Chancellor, the Archdiocese CFO and the Head of the Catholic Ministries Appeal Department. Please listen to the tape you will see and hear this weekend as well as to fellow parishioners who will be speaking to you over the next several weeks.
